34 Ghanaian beneficiaries of $100 million TEEP Visit UBA Ghana

UBA Ghana has played host to The
Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) entrepreneurs from Ghana. Led by
its President, Sheila Osei Boakye, the TEEP entrepreneurs paid a courtesy call
on the management of UBA Ghana on Tuesday August 18, 2015 to introduce
themselves.

The thirty-four (34) Ghanaian
Entrepreneurs are currently participating in the ongoing Tony Elumelu
Entrepreneurship Programme, which seeks to provide
seed equity of $10,000.00 to each of the winning 1000 entrepreneurs across
Africa.
The Tony Elumelu
Foundation has committed a total fund of $100 million to grow 10,000 African
entrepreneurs, create 1 million jobs and add $10 billion annual revenue across
Africa within the next decade
.
 The
Deputy Managing Director of UBA Ghana, Mr Usman Isiaka, welcomed the entrepreneurs
congratulating them for going through the rigorous selection process.  He
advised the entrepreneurs to imbibe some of the sterling
qualities of Mr. Tony Elumelu (C.O.N) that
made him a successful global investor.
 “Mr. Elumelu is a visionary and an energetic person that dares to dream and follows
his dream with action; and sees business opportunities and challenges far ahead
of his contemporaries” said Mr. Isiaka.
He called on the TEEP
Ghana members to practice these principles
in order to excel in their respective business
ideas that won them the TEEP Award advising them to remember Mr. Elumelu’s
statement “Africans are the only people who can develop Africa.”
 He said it was Mr. Elumelu’s believe in Africa
that had led him to invest in African businesses and created a platform to
turn entrepreneurial aspirations into sustainable businesses that will drive
economic growth and job creation across Africa.
 Mr. Isiaka also assured them of UBA Ghana’s
readiness is to support them in the growth of their respective businesses with
a robust bouquet of products and services.

Sheila Osei Boakye, President of the
Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) Ghana, on behalf of the
entrepreneurs thanked the bank for a warm reception while expressing her
appreciation to the Tony Elumelu Foundation
for investing in the team.
 She also solicited for the bank’s support in their operational activities to help
them achieve their goal of contributing to the growth of the private sector in Ghana; and the economy at large.
