5 VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT IDEAS

You’d think getting someone a gift is easy until you are faced with the choice of picking something that you think the person would really love. This was my situation last Valentine’s. Here I was in the gift store, staring at a bunch of beautiful items but not knowing what to get. There and then, I knew I had to pay more attention to the people around me. Could you believe I left without getting anything? Well, I thought of something later, and thankfully, my friend loved the gift. Whew!

If you are in a similar situation, scratching your head and wondering how to make this Valentine’s extra special for that special someone, I got you. Let me share with you my 5 gifts for last year’s Valentine’s. Hopefully, they’ll help you decide what to give this year.

Personalised Gifts

I am a sucker for bracelets so imagine my excitement when I got one together with a necklace with my initials on them for Valentine’s. I was over the moon! It just showed me how thoughtful my friend was. Sharing this right now is kind of bittersweet for me because I lost them, and boy, did I bawl my eyes out when that happened(Kim K, I definitely get you now). They felt like more than just pieces of jewellery. If you’re looking to put a personal spin on your gift this season, you might consider customising your gifts.

Show Tickets

I thought I was done awwwing after getting the jewellery until I opened a box and was greeted by a handwritten note with the most beautiful words I’d ever read and tucked in between the card, were two standup comedy show tickets to go laugh out loud.OMG! My heart couldn’t take it.

Spa Day

Each day in February just kept getting better as I was also treated to a spa session at Oriki to relax and pamper my skin on Friday before the comedy show on Sunday, 19th. My skin sure felt the pampering, because you needed to have seen how supple my skin looked after that. There is no way I won’t be going back to Oriki this year for another wonderful experience, especially now that I get to enjoy a special discount of 10% off the price with my UBA debit card.

Fitness or Wellness Gift

After getting all these beautiful gifts, it would have been totally selfish of me not to give any gifts in return. Operation “Get a Gift” commenced, and I swung into action. Before Valentine’s week, he had been talking about how he’d like to take his fitness and general well-being more seriously. I took a cue and paid for a 3-month subscription at i-Fitness gym and took him to medplus afterwards to get him some supplements. I also got some for myself (I’m in the age group where your knees let you know not to try silly teenager stuff). I am so excited this time because amazing offers await me and other UBA customers when we pay with our UBA debit cards at these places this Valentine’s season. How’s this for a Valentine’s gift idea? Amazing, right? You show love and save money at the same time.

Gift Card

I decided to have a little Galentine’s on Valentine’s by gifting my best friend Mary a UBA prepaid card to buy herself some cool items. The fact that she didn’t have to be a UBA customer to use the prepaid card had her sold. Guess who is a UBA customer today. You guessed right, Mary! This year, we go again because she is that special to me.

The most important aspect of any gift is the thought and effort you put into selecting it. Use this guide and get to work. You have less than 10 days to come up with the perfect gift. Good luck!
