9 SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

Summer is one season that kids love so much because why not?  They can finally take a breather from schoolwork and have all the fun outside that you could think of. If you are looking for ways to keep your kids entertained this summer, well, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a list of 9 cool activities they can enjoy this season.

1. Taking a Trip

Summer almost seems synonymous with trips. A family trip is a perfect way for kids to experience new environments. It could be a staycation at a favourite resort, a day trip to a nearby town or a trip outside the country. These are fantastic ways for kids to experience something different. You want to go on a staycation or vacation for less? Check out UBA’s summer offerings to see how.

2. Train Ride Adventure

If your kid has been wanting to go on a train ride. The summer is also a perfect time for this. A scenic train ride can be an exciting adventure.  As you pass by those beautiful landscapes and landmarks you can tell them how those things came to be.

3. Volunteering

It is never too early to teach kids to give back. Teaching kids the value of giving back is a wonderful summer activity. Find local volunteer opportunities that are suitable for children and have them participate in them. Volunteering teaches empathy, responsibility, and the importance of community.

4. Swimming Lessons

Summer is the perfect time for kids to learn how to swim or improve their swimming skills. Enrol them in swimming lessons at a local pool or recreation centre. Not only is swimming a fun and refreshing activity, but it’s also an essential life skill that promotes safety and confidence in the water.

5. Learning to Play an Instrument

If your child has shown an interest in music, summer is a great time to start learning to play an instrument. It could be piano, guitar, violin, or drums. Music lessons can be a fun and rewarding way for kids to express themselves creatively.

6. Enrolling in a Crafts Class

Unleash your child’s creativity by signing them up for a crafts class. All that doodling on your walls and car might just be a sign of a genius artist. Enrolling them in pottery, woodworking, painting classes or any skill they are interested in is a great way for them to learn new skills and make stuff with their hands.

7. Going to the Park

This is one of the most budget-friendly fun activities to do in the summer. Just pack the kids’ favourite snacks, toys and games and enjoy a day in the park. It is also a great way for kids to socialise with other kids and make new friends. Sometimes, the simplest activities are the most enjoyable.

8. Kite Flying

These days, millennial parents are complaining that this generation of kids is missing out on the fun things that they did when they were kids. You can show them what it was like by flying kites with them on a breezy summer after. To make it even more fun, you could have them work some DIY magic by making the kites with them from scratch. When they’re done, head on to an open space and get those kites soaring high up in the sky.

9. Storytime

Some of my best childhood memories are the storytimes (oral) I had with my mum every evening outside our house before going to bed. Even though sometimes the mosquitoes made us cut some stories short, I always looked forward to that time of the evening. Storytime is a great way to bond with your kids and foster a love for reading. It can also help them nurture their imagination and enhance their language and listening skills.

These summer activities offer fun, learning, and creativity, ensuring your kids have a fun-filled summer with many memories to cherish.
