Discussions from Africa and Everywhere—Conversations with Oge
The debut episode of Africa and Everywhere: Conversations with Oge hit the airwaves with a powerful conversation on Africa’s future. Held on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly, this inaugural episode featured two trailblazing African women: Somachi Chris-Asoluka, CEO of the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF), and Sola Yomi-Ajayi, CEO of UBA International.
The discussion explored critical issues such as UBA’s and TEF’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), job creation across the continent, and youth’s empowerment in business. Chris-Asoluka emphasised the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s commitment to empowering young African entrepreneurs, creating millions of jobs, and eradicating poverty through the Foundation’s groundbreaking initiatives. Her insights were clear: entrepreneurship is the key to changing Africa’s narrative from dependency to self-sufficiency.
Yomi-Ajayi added another dimension to the conversation, underscoring UBA’s role in fostering both intra-African and international trade. As the CEO of UBA International, she highlighted the bank’s pivotal role in providing financial infrastructure that connects African economies with the rest of the world. This is not only driving economic growth but also empowering Africans especially female entrepreneurs to play a bigger role in business across the continent.
Together, their vision is one of inclusive growth—lifting millions out of poverty while fostering a new narrative for Africa: one of strength, innovation, and global influence.
In a world where Africa’s potential is often overlooked, this conversation was a timely reminder of what the continent can achieve through collaboration, investment, and empowerment. Africa’s story is changing, and UBA and TEF are proud to be part of those driving that change.
